1. Who we are

Omega School is operated by Omega Foundation (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We provide an AI-powered teaching assistant for homeschool families. Our contact email is hello@omega.foundation.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following information when you use Omega School:

  • Account information: Your email address and name, used for authentication and communication.
  • Family information: Family name, teaching methodology preference, and state/region (optional, for compliance context).
  • Children's profiles: Names, grade levels, subjects, interests, and learning notes. We do not collect birthdates unless you choose to provide them.
  • Learning activity data: Daily plans, completed activities, lesson content, chat conversations with Omega, and progress notes.
  • Curriculum library: Resources, books, and platforms you catalog in the app.
  • Usage data: Page views, feature usage, and general analytics (aggregated, not per-user).
  • Billing information: Handled entirely by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID — we never see or store your payment card details.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the Omega School service.
  • To generate personalized daily plans, lessons, and AI responses using OpenAI's API, with your family's context passed as part of the prompt.
  • To send magic link authentication emails.
  • To send optional transactional emails (trial reminders, weekly summaries) if you have opted in.
  • To process subscription payments through Stripe.
  • To generate compliance and attendance reports you request.

4. AI and your data

Omega uses OpenAI's GPT-4o and GPT-4o-mini models to power lessons, plans, and chat. When you use these features, relevant context (family methodology, child grade level, learning history) is included in the AI prompt.

Your data is never used to train AI models. We have opted out of OpenAI's model training for API usage. Your family's conversations and lesson content remain private to your account.

Voice features: When you use listen mode or voice input in lessons, the audio is processed by OpenAI under the same API terms, which prohibit training on your data. Omega does not store voice recordings. If our voice service is unavailable (for example, when offline), the app falls back to your browser's built-in speech features, which may be processed by your browser vendor.

Real-time voice lessons: During a live voice lesson, audio streams directly between your family's browser and OpenAI under the same API terms — it is not used to train AI models and is not stored by Omega. Omega stores only the lesson transcript and the duration of each voice session.

5. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Omega School is designed for use by parents managing their children's education. The primary account holder must be a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older.

We collect minimal information about children: name, grade level, subjects, and learning notes entered by parents. We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts or provide personal information directly.

If you believe we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, please contact us at hello@omega.foundation and we will promptly delete it.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • OpenAI — to power AI features (prompts only; data not used for training).
  • Stripe — to process subscription payments.
  • Neon / Vercel — infrastructure providers for database hosting and app deployment.
  • PurelyMail — SMTP provider for transactional email.

All providers are bound by data processing agreements appropriate to their role.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@omega.foundation. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Stripe retains billing records per their own retention policy.

8. Security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit, signed session cookies for authentication, and Neon's encrypted PostgreSQL database for data at rest. We do not store passwords — authentication is magic-link only. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Data portability (export your data).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
